REDSTONE CASTLE ARCHITECTURAL PLANS
Restored and Archived at Denver Public Library
The architectural plans were given to the Society by Connie Lawrence George. She is the grand daughter of Charles Osgood and great-great niece of John C Osgood, Connie’s Mom was Sally Osgood Lawrence. Connie shared the story of how they were destined to burned along with most of John Osgood’s records by Osgood’s third wife Lucille.
Charles Osgood, JC Osgood’s brother, requested his teenage son Peter Osgood to burn these plans. Connie’s father, Robert Lawrence and Sally’s husband, saved them from the burn pile. Robert safely stored them until his death, left them with Sally, who passed them on to Connie. They are extremely fragile.
The Society had them “restored” and archived at The Denver Public Library as part of their Western History collection. Below are copies of the 120 year old drawings. The full sized originals vary in size but are approximately 60″ x 50″ each.
Large printed copies are displayed as part of the Redstone Historical Society collection at the Redstone Castle and a smaller version will be displayed in our Museum on Redstone Blvd.
Many thanks to Robert Lawrence for saving and protecting them and to Connie George for sharing them with the Society.
