REDSTONE MUSEUM was constructed in 1899 and served as the “lamp house” for the 200 miners living in Coal Town and working the steep tunnel mines. Now conveniently located in Redstone Park, it is also the home of the Redstone Historical Society. Step back & enjoy Redstone History – Open daily, May – October.
REDSTONE COKE OVENS restoration in 2014 culminated the 15 year RHS project to preserve this site. The narrow gage railroad brought the coal from the coal mines eight miles and 3,000 feet above Redstone. These ovens were fired up to 2400ºF to cook the coal in to coking coal to be used in Osgood’s steel mill in Pueblo.
REDSTONE NATIONAL HISTORIC DISTRICT includes the cottages on River Road, now known as Redstone Blvd, home to the married workers of coke ovens; the Redstone Inn, at the head of the Blvd, housed the bachelor workers. The manager homes and the former school and clubhouse were on the hillside.
